31 Little Things – 8
It’s some of the simplest things in life that bring me pleasure. When I wake up, I have a cup of coffee immediately. I usually drink that one pretty fast, but my second cup takes me longer. When I’m about halfway through it, it’s time to take the girls to school. By the time I get home, it’s cold. So after my mom got my son a really nice insulated travel cup (to take ice water in to school on hot days), and the subsequent “fights” over who gets to use it today, she got us 3 more. Now I make my second cup in the tumbler and take it with me for the morning carpool.
These things are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. They absolutely do not leak ever. They keep hot drinks hot for at least an hour and a half, and warm for 4 hours. They say they can keep cold drinks cold for 12 but I haven’t tested that theory out.
I realized it was a simple thing that makes me happy when I took a sip of my still quite warm coffee 3 hours after I made it.
I love these things.
If you’re in the market for a really good travel mug, then seriously, check these out. You can get them from QVC. They’re worth every penny.

I’m not the kind of woman that gets excited by shoes and handbags. I’m more into comfort than fashion. I don’t go to clubs and bars anymore. I really don’t get dressed up unless I’m going to a wedding. That would explain why my current black heals are probably close to 15 years old. Needless to say, they’re in sad shape.
Yesterday I went to dinner at my girlfriend’s house. I took a picture of my meal all plated up, and that was going to be my “thing” for the day. However, as delicious as it was, it just didn’t look terribly appetizing in the picture. Instead, she gave me a pair of shoes she bought and ended up not fitting. Pretty, shiny black heals that will now replace the worn out, 15 year old heals. And *that* is my “thing” for day 7.

I have a confession to make. As much as I like the idea of a nice weekend breakfast for the family, I don’t actually want any part of making it. I don’t really eat breakfast myself, and when I do, it’s closer to 10 and it’s usually a bowl of cereal. But I DO love pancakes for dinner and don’t even mind making them.
My little one eats cereal or something easy just about every day, so it’s not like I’m making her breakfast every day. Pour, pour, go.
Last night I had an extra person here, and she likes to eat in the morning. I didn’t have anything here, so I went to the store for breakfast goods. I decided on bacon and pancakes. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve made plenty of pancakes from scratch, and plenty from mixes where you add eggs and milk or whatever. But I was in no mood for that. I didn’t completely cheat and get frozen pancakes, but I got the next best (laziest) thing I could find.
That’s right. Shake and Pour. Whatever I have to do to speed up the torturous breakfast making process with as little mess as possible. For a Saturday morning that I need to actually cook, Bisquick Shake and Pour makes me happy.
